1.      Start by putting all the consoles contents into the small box.

2.      Now slide both front seats as far back as possible and remove the front two screws holding the center console in place.    The stubby Phillips helps here or the offset 10mm wrench!

3.      Now slide the front seats all the way forward and remove the two rear bolts holding the center console.

4.      The console will now slide out easily.  Set the console aside.

5.      Remove the two screws on the RIGHT SIDE ONLY of the shifter console.

6.      Empty the glove box.

7.      Remove the glove box by removing the 6 screws that hold it in place.  See Fig.1

13.   Get the LED wiring harness.  Insert the LED with the longest wire into the hole on the right.  Insert the other LED into the hole on the left.   Get two LED holders.  Insert the LED into the holder as far as it will go.  See Fig. 6.

Fig. 6

14.    Now insert the holder into the hole as far as it will go.  Press only on the edges of the holder so you don’t push the LED out of the holder!  See Fig. 7.

Fig. 7

15.   Clean off the area shown in Fig. 8.  Peel the backing off the wire holder and place it as shown.  Press it FIRMLY for 30 seconds to achieve a good bond.

Fig. 8

16.  Locate the wiring harness in the Xterra as shown in Fig. 9. This harness is located UNDER the center console which you removed in steps 2 - 4. Using the sharp knife, slit the harness cover about 4 inches.

Fig. 9

17.  Find the Pink wire with the Black stripe.  Using the slip joint pliers and referring to Fig. 10 crimp a T connector to the wire. Then find the Blue wire with a red stripe.  Using the slip joint pliers and referring to Fig. 10 crimp a T connector to this wire. See Fig. 9 for how it looks when done.

Fig. 10

18.  Locate wiring harness B as shown in Fig. 11.  Plug the wire on harness B labeled PK/BLK into the T-Connector crimped onto the Pink wire with the black stripe.  Plug the other wire labeled Blue/Red into the T-Connector crimped to the Blue wire with the red stripe.  It is important to get this right or you can damage the LEDS!!!

19.  Plug the male end of the LED harness into harness B.  Make sure to get the polarity right! Orient the LED harness connector so that the pin with the RED heat shrink aligns with the RED + drawn on the side of the harness B connector. See Fig. 12.

20.  Test the LEDS!  Turn on the park lights and put the dimmer on full bright (control rotated all the way ‘up’.) The LEDS should be full bright.  By rotating the control ‘down’ they will dim as the other dash lights dim.  If they don’t work immediately turn off the park lights.  Some trucks have been found that may be wired wrong!  Reverse the connections in Step 18 and try it again.  If it still doesn't work see the Trouble Shooting section.

21.  Place the LED harness wire into the wire holder shown in Fig. 13.

22.   Finish routing the wire using the other stick on wire holders placed where you need them.  Don't forget to clean the plastic before installing them! Replace the glove box being careful not to pinch any wires!  Use the included tie wraps to secure them out of the way.  Enjoy your new lights!

Manual Shift Installation Instructions

  1. Follow the above steps through Step #15.
  2. Remove the dimmer from the dash using the knife.  It just press fits in but can be a pain to get out!  It helps to remove the fuse panel door and reach in from the back and push while prying.  Be careful not to scratch the dash or switch or stab yourself with the knife!
  3. Find the Pink wire with the Black stripe going into the back of the dimmer.  Using the slip joint pliers and referring to Fig. 5 crimp a T connector to the wire. Then find the Blue wire with a red stripe.  Using the slip joint pliers and referring to Fig.10 crimp a T connector to this wire.
  4. Locate wiring harness B.  See Fig. 11. Plug the wire with the white stripe and with the label BL/R into the T-Connector crimped onto the Blue wire with the red stripe.  Plug the other wire with the label PK/B into the T-Connector crimped to the Pink wire with the black stripe.  It is important to get this right or you can damage the LEDS!!!   Refer to Fig. 9.
  5. Take the wiring harness labeled ‘D’ and route it from the dimmer switch, over top of the steering column under the dash, then under the carpet to the center console area.  MAKE SURE TO USE THE TIE WRAPS TO SECURE THIS WIRE FROM ALL MOVING PARTS UNDER THE DASH!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Plug harness ‘B’ into harness ‘C’.  Place the console back into position and plug wiring harness ‘A’ into ‘D’.
